Getting to Know You |
Here are some of the activities we used to help members of our groups to get to know each other, at the beginning of our project, and whenever a new member joined the group.
| 1. Descriptive names | 2. Introducing ourselves | 3. Yes/No game | 4. Community Bingo |
Give the group stickers, ask them to think of a word to describe themselves, and then to place this and their name on the sticker. Invite the rest of the group to ask each individual why they had chosen their particular names, therefore revealing something about themselves to each other.
Each of the members of the group have the opportunity to say a few things about themselves to the rest of the group, whether it be where they live, about their family, or their hobbies.
Each member of the group answers the questions of the other group members for as long as he/she can, without resorting to yes/no answers.
The participants are each given a bingo card, which includes a number of statements such as 'Has a relative in another country'. The participants must find someone who fits the item description, get that person to sign their name in the relevant bingo card square, and continue until all the squares are signed. They may then shout BINGO!
